The latest rumors suggest that HMD Global has brought back some of the iconic Nokia phones of the past two decades in an updated form. Among them is the Nokia 3650, and designers Concept Creator and Letsgodigital have reportedly created renderings for the brand new Nokia 3650 5G (2021) with KaiOS. We also have a video of the device below.
HMD has revived some classics in recent years, such as the Nokia 8110 4G banana phone and the Nokia 2720 Flip. 2020 is also the year of reissues, with the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic and the Nokia 6300 and 8000 also getting a makeover. It was time for the Nokia 3650 4G to start a new life. It all started when the Russian website Mobiltelefon.ru reported that the Nokia 3650 2021 was in development. The original came in 2003 with a chocolate bar design and a round digital stamp and background.
The device ran on Symbian OS Series 60 and had a TFT 2.1 screen with a resolution of 208 x 176 pixels. It also had a 0.3 megapixel VGA camera on the back and 4 MB of memory. The battery was quite strong, 850 mAh with 150 hours of standby time and 3 hours of talk time. The new version now comes with a camera, 4G support for KaiOS and some basic applications. It is much thinner and sleeker, more elegant, but retains the usual features of its predecessor. The round keyboard will probably be a pretty good control.
To me it looks more like a media player, an MP4 player than a regular phone. It is aimed at a young and nostalgic audience. It is made of polycarbonate, comes in blue or yellow and has a generous screen, at least 3 or 5 inches diagonally. There is a single camera on the back, possibly an 8 or 12 MP shooter with LED flash. Expect a price of less than $150. If you ask me, there is only one Nokia I would return, and that is the N-Gage.
